Research focus

In 2009, Frederika has started a PhD study titled: Impact of the European Union framework on the free flow of geo-information and geo services.  Between 2005 and 2008 she has focused her research on geo portals and the accessibility of geo information, including legal aspects of accessibility and economic aspects such as pricing models.  One of the outcomes of her research was the development of a simple, transparent model to facilitate access to multiple datasets.  This model will be further developed in the coming year and will aid more efficient (re)use of geo-information for both the public and the private sector.

Frederika’s other research interests are policy development with respect to the role of the public sector in the (geo information) market, and reuse of public sector information as a resource for developing value added products and services and Web 2.0 applications.  Closely related to these are policy developments of spatial data infrastructures in Europe, Australia, US and Canada.
